Ann Gregg Mc Iver
Executive Director of the Morningside Area Alliance (MAA), an alliance of seventeen of the major institutions in Morningside Heights including Columbia University, Teachers College, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, St. and Luke’s Hospital. During her tenure, which began in 1996, the Alliance was responsible for a number of community initiatives: revitalization of the Morningside Park, Development of Job Connection- a federally funded workforce program, and the Morningside Alliance Youth Center for after school and summer camp programs for the youth of NYCHA General Grant Houses. The recent Bridge to Excellence Program provides support to local public schools. A comprehensive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) School partnership with Public School District Five in Harlem has grown with two major events: “SUPER SATURDAY,” a large Science Expo of hands-on science activities and READ OUT LOUD, a major literacy event. In her earlier career, Ms Mc Iver served as Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Medicaid Home Cares system for eight years, and was professor of English at CUNY’s Medgar Evers College for an eight year period.
