FAN4Kids provides a simple yett comprehensive program dedicated to educating kids and their parents about healthy eating and fitness. Trained FAN4Kids instructors teach the entire school year, integrating our lessons into the existing curriculum.

WHAT WE OFFER

The FAN4Kids program is developed in consultation with the Center for Obesity Research and Intervention, the Center for Effective School Practices, and the New Jersey Center for Character Education and in conjunction with a group of expert advisors that include pediatricians, nutritionists, personal trainers and school psychologists. FAN4Kids provides a customized and innovative program that teaches and reinforces healthy choices that empower kids to make smart decisions about their eating and fitness habits. The FAN4Kids program is based on three main factors:

1. Educate Children

We provide an extensive curriculum that goes beyond the existing in-school health and PE curriculum in elementary schools.  By incorporating food tasting and introducing children to non-traditional activities such as Aussie Rules Footie, FAN4Kids' curriculum makes learning about fitness and nutrition an exciting activity for all children.

2. Enlist Parents

We reach out to parents in a variety of ways to help educate and provide parents the tools to reinforce the FAN4Kids lessons at home.

3. Mobilize the Community

We mobilize all aspects of the community to contribute to the well being of our children: from local businesses and national corporations to local and state politicians and institutions.

  • Type II diabetes, an obesity-associated disease once known as adult-onset diabetes, now strikes children.
  • One in three U.S. children born in 2000 will contract Type II diabetes unless their lifestyles emphasize eating less and exercising more.
  • Children as yung as 5 show signs of heart disease.
  • The average child consumes at least 20 ounces of soda pop a day.
  • Today's youth are considered the most inactive generation in history caused in part by reductions in school physical education programs and unavailable or unsafe community recreational facilities.
  • Today's children are expected to be the first generation of kids in American history to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents
